Sustainability at The Sebel Noosa

Here at The Sebel Noosa we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

Dry Amenities

We are delighted to share our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this initiative, we have made a significant decision to remove single-use dry amenities, taking a bold step towards a plastic-free environment.

We understand the importance of preserving our planet for future generations. By removing single-use plastic amenities such as toothbrushes, combs, and shower caps from our guest rooms, we are significantly reducing our environmental footprint. Instead, guests can request dry amenities by calling room service or visiting our friendly team at reception.

Large Amenities

As part of our ongoing efforts, we have made the proactive decision to move to large format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers throughout the hotel. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we are significantly reducing the amount of waste generated by our operations. This commitment aligns with our dedication to environmental stewardship and reflects our ongoing efforts to improve sustainability in all aspects of our hotel.

Food Waste

At The Sebel Noosa, we are committed to reducing wastage and promoting sustainable practices across our snack and beverage outlets. We understand the importance of minimising our environmental impact while delivering exceptional experiences to our guests.

Sebel Noosa does not have an onsite restaurant, however we do provide our guests with beverage services, as well as a small snack bar offering at reception.

  • Snack Bar: Only keeping small amounts of stock onsite, to ensure no products are being wasted due to expiration dates etc.
  • Beverage Services: Again, only stocking small amounts of juice, soft drinks, liquors etc, to ensure nothing is having to go to waste.
  • Local Suppliers: All of our snack offerings, as well as bath care retail options at reception, are all sourced by local suppliers.

Recycling

At The Sebel Noosa, all hotel waste is separated into co-mingle, cardboard, cans/bottles and general waste, minimising our impact on landfill.  In addition, we have taken a number of steps to further reduce water and embrace a circular system.

  • Cans and Bottles (10c eligible): We separate any cans/bottles that are eligible for 10c recycling.
  • Cardboard: We separate all cardboard throughout the complex and all departments.  This is then entered into the correct cardboard rubbish bin to be collected.
  • Co-Mingle: We ensure we are very vigilant with recycling throughout the complex and all departments in the resort.

 Community Support

We are committed to maintaining strong connections with our local community and give back wherever possible. As previously mentioned, our snack offerings and bath care options sold at reception, are all sourced from local suppliers. It is extremely important to us to support our local community, as well as sourcing Australian made products.

  • The Soap Bar (Coolum Beach, Sunshine Coast): We currently stock bath bombs, bath salts and bath teas for guests to purchase and enjoy. The Soap Bar produces all their products on the Sunshine Coast, creating boutique handmade bath and body products.
  • Nutworks (Yandina, Sunshine Coast): We currently stock a handful of options, including milk chocolate macadamias, sea salt and rosemary macadamias, and a couple of their confectionary items (rocky road etc). Nutworks are the last company that use Australian-Grown Macadamias, making them such a sought-after product, that all guests love.
  • SweetAz Popcorn (Coolum Beach, Sunshine Coast): Sweet Az Popcorn Business is a family affair that has been making popcorn and fudge for many years. We stock their small offerings, and they provide the packaging with the ‘Sebel Noosa’ logo on them making them feel very personalised.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Sebel Noosa acknowledges the ongoing connections to the traditional custodians of our land, the Kabi Kabi people. We pay our respects to the Elders, past, present and emerging.

Every evening at 7pm, outside the Visitor Information Centre on Hastings Street, there's a welcome to country virtual audio-visual experience held to acknowledge and celebrate the Kabi Kabi people's connection to Noosa, which we encourage all guests to experience.

Accessibility

At The Sebel Noosa, we strive to accommodate the diverse needs of all our guests. While we do not currently have any dedicated accessible rooms, our open-plan apartments are designed with spacious layouts to provide ease of movement and comfort for all guests.

Each of our six buildings have elevator access, and our reception area is accessible from Hastings Street via elevator as well. These elevators have recently been upgraded to display vital information and include voice notification to cater for guests with hearing or vision impairments. In addition, assistance animals are always welcome.
